John 6:11
"And Jesus took the loaves ; and when He Had given thanks, He distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would."
The above Bible passage was during the situation of scarcity and shortage that encountered Jesus ; when He wanted to feed over five thousand people who were hungry after following Him for some days. Right in that situation, Jesus gave thanks in advance of what only God can do. Jesus knew that God can turn scarcity to surplus. All God wants from us is our gratitude in good and bad times.
The disciples so much worried about the scarcity; even Philip had to let Jesus know that the money worth available was not sufficient to feed the crowd. In addition, there was no bread to buy. In summary; there was little money and no food to buy. In the process of the worries, Andrew discovered a lad in the crowd with five barley of loaves and two small fishes.
While others worried and began to debate about the magnitude of the situation, Jesus approached the situation from a different angle. He simply took the small and gave thanks to God from the bottom of His heart; for the small provision. God can turn scarcity to abundance and shortage to surplus. God responds more quickly to thanksgiving than worries. Learn not to worry. Turn your worries to thanksgiving. Stay calm and you will discover that God is in control and rules in all of the affairs of men. HE is more than able. Praise HIM.
