Exodus 34:7
"Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation."
The original intention of God as regards mercy is to forgive all our mess, transgressions and sins. However, along the line, we turned back from the plans of mercy and God responded with judgement. Mercy of God is incomparable with judgement. Why? Mercy is a sweet process but judgement can be painful.
God is ready to clear the guilty Christians who are able to repent and turn away from the path of transgressions. King Ahab sinned against God in a terrible way, but God stopped judgement against him in his life time, by mercy, but deferred judgement to his next generation. We should learn to pray like Daniel who prayed and stood gap for his past generations who had sinned. God listened to Daniel and rescue his own generation.
God can inter-vain not to visit your sins upon your children and children’s children if we can stand in gap and repent for all our short comings. You can prevent judgement against yourself and your generation by your sincerity with God in the process of repentance. God yields to sincere and insincere repentance accordingly. Sincerely repent and God will faithfully give mercy. HE is a very merciful God. Amen!!!!
