LUKE 10: 33-34
"But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed came where he was and when he saw him, he had compassion on him.
34) And went to him, bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
The above bible passages are about someone not mentioned (unknown) who fell into the hands of robbers and was eventually wounded and abandoned almost dead.
The penultimate verses show that a priest saw the wounded and passed by, without showing any compassion. Also, a Levite got to the same spot where the wounded was lying and he also saw the wounded and passed by on the other side. The priest and the Levite were people of God that should know how to show compassion to the needy, but they ignored the wounded.
Having compassion on a friend or family is easy to accomplish; probably because someday there could be return compassion. However, having compassion on strangers goes extra mile because return compassion may not be feasible, as it could be a one-time meeting or opportunity. Brethren, please start loving like the good Samaritan. It is acceptable by God and eventually will be rewarded. Please stay tuned for further parts of this devotional.
Prayer points for the day
1) Father, thank you for another light of the day, in Jesus Name.
2) Father, thank you for the season of your special love, in Jesus Name.
3) Lord, by your love, forgive all my iniquities, in Jesus Name.
4) Father, give me the spirit of the good Samaritan, in Jesus Name.
5) Almighty God, give me the grace to love the unlovable, in Jesus Name.
6) Father, let my life be full of compassion for others, known/unknown, in Jesus Name.
7) Lord, empower me to love thy way, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.
