Hebrews 12:28
"Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:"
The above passage is loaded but only if we deeply study it. The passage refers to our receiving and our connection with the kingdom of God that will remain forever. It also refers to the grace needed to serve God in the right way and perspective, particularly as it relates to referential fear of God.
However, the admonition today is based on our receiving and enjoying so much from God, yet giving so little thanks, appreciation, and referential fear in how we use what we receive from God. All that we receive from God is not about us alone, but about how we use the blessings to glorify His Holy Name.
Receiving is by HIS grace so it is appropriate to give thanks to God. Let your thanksgiving to God be special this season. He is ready to accept your gratitude in any form that you wish to express it. Also, remember others who are less privileged and who are in apparent need. Express your thanksgiving to God by doing something for someone around you – it mustn’t necessarily be for a member of your direct family or for neighbors who are kind to you. Let us display referential fear of God this thanksgiving.
