“WONDERFUL LOVE”

2 Samuel 1: 26

"I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.

In viewing Davids record, we all know that King David loved women so much. However, the above passage informs us that the love between him (David and Jonathan) was more cherished than his love for women!

The love between them was covenanted and sincere so much that David was in great distress when he heard the news of Jonathan’s death. Why? Jonathan watched out for David when Saul, the father of Jonathan was seeking to eliminate David. Also, when David was anointed King, Jonathan did not fight for his right as the next bonafide king on the line. Jonathan loved David as Jesus would love – unconditional love.

How is your love life today? Is it the flowery love only; that dies within a short time? Please note that our women love flowers to show love and that is fine. However, I believe then that “flowers of love” must be presented regularly from our daily actions, from both within and without. Let the flowers inside of us be nurtured to reflect our outward actions of love. Love not only from the eyes, let love also be from the mind.

Prayer points for the day

  • 1) Lord, teach my heart to love as Jesus would love, in Jesus Name.
  • 2) Father, let my love be sincere, both from within and without in Jesus Name.
  • 3) Lord, let me begin to see love with the eyes of my mind, in Jesus Name.
  • 4) Lord, surround me with lovable souls, in Jesus Name.
  • 5) Give me grace to give love without conditions, in Jesus Name.
  • 6) Lord, let me show love, even unto the unlovable, in Jesus Name.
  • 7) Father, let love make a way for me, in Jesus Name.

Have a blessed and wonderful day!
