Psalm 71:9
"Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth"
The book of Ecclesiastes 3:1 has always reminded us of the issue of time and space in life. Everything and everyone has been created with season and timing. Today, the emphasis is on the time of old age. Our times differ in His hands and God Has His final say.
One Theologian said “Time of old age is a thing of the mind above the matter, and if we do not mind; old age does not matter” From the spiritual aspect, we need God more as we grow old. The time of old age is the time to remember that we are not alone. God is with us to render divine help, and become our strengths in time of need.
Based on the life of Prophet Moses, we may divide life into three or more stages. The first 30 years, the second, third and fourth etc. The Bible says in Deuteronomy 34:7 “And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abate” Growing old is not fun in our generation of science and technology. It is the phase of life when our natural force abates and we find it difficult to maintain the youthful looks, efforts, stamina, flexibility and the overall ability of the body seems to be vanishing. However, there is a place and space for spiritual intervention. Look unto God not man for strength. We all have assignments in our various calling or career and until the assignment is accomplished, age will not be a barrier and God will not forsake you. Amen.
