2 Tim. 1:9
"Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given in Christ Jesus before the world began."
The profession that we are in might be a calling. In other aspects of life, there are callings from the Lord and there are callings from the devil. For example, when a man decides to join to evil and the group of darkness; such is a call from the devil. Whereas, when a man decides to serve and work for the advancement of humanity, like your daily legitimate job; ranging from a position with Mac Donald’s to the exotic position in the World Bank; such is a calling from the Lord – a holy calling without blemish.
God has also given us the ability to differentiate between a call from the light and darkness. The call from the light leads to eventual and eternal salvation followed by all the benefits in the light. However, a call from the dark leads into eventual and eternal condemnation with all the attendant consequences. Jesus has been given to us as a divine solution.
How do we have good discernment of our calling? By engaging in the right fellowship and studying the word of God. The Psalmist days in Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” The word of God directs and quickens. It teaches what we cannot be taught in the class of life. It leads to the calling approved by God. The call of God is divine into the right and prosperous path of vocation. Seek the face of God in earnest, put God first. Let your efforts rank behind God and not ahead of God. HE is the projector of your efforts. Without God your efforts can be the best, but may not fly. JESUS is not our ‘spare’ tire. He is the Author and the Finisher of our faith. He has the blue prints of our destiny in His able hands. Trust God.
