Jeremiah 14:3
"And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, and found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads"
The word of the Lord came to Prophet Jeremiah concerning the cities of Judah and Jerusalem because of their iniquities and backsliding into idolatry. God wanted their true attention again and God meted out punishment by ways of drought to them.
The iniquities of the people/ land stood and testified against them. They could not hide from God. They were exposed and they became ashamed and covered their heads in shame. God Has many customized ways to catch our attentions. Their land became chapt, meaning that it was dry and cracked. They looked for water everywhere and there was none. God became silent and removed His presence from them with no water, meaning no answered prayers. Their spiritual drought resulted into physical drought.
For God’s presence to return to the land the people cried to God and their cries went up to God from Judah and Jerusalem. God’s presence is equal to God’s showers of blessing. We also can cry earnestly unto God for divine intervention. God listens to the languish of the people in darkness. He is our merciful God. Let us repent from our heavy load of sins when there is still time. God loves the sinners but Hates the sins in us. Take this devotional today as a call to serious repentance, because the second coming of Jesus is more nearer that before. Genuine repentance will also bring showers of blessing to your life. AMEN
Prayer points for the day
1) Father, thank you for a day of more spiritual awareness in my life, in Jesus Name.
2) Lord, thank you for your mercy and loving kindness that are new every morning, in Jesus Name.
3) Father, forgive my sins and do not allow them to stand against my journey, in Jesus Name.
4) Father, I look unto you, let there be showers of blessing, in my life, in Jesus Name.
5) Almighty God, let my heavens be open in a new dimension, in Jesus Name.
6) Lord, open the flood gate of heaven unto me and my family and let there be showers of blessing, in Jesus Name.
7) Lord, I need your presence in all my ways in Jesus Name. Amen.
