Matthew 17:27
"Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, an cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shall find a piece of money, that take and give unto them for me and thee"
The above passage reveals when Jesus and Peter were confronted about what they called “payment of tribute” which is known as tax payment these days. Every adult was expected to pay tributes accordingly; and the tax collectors asked Peter the embarrassing question as recorded in Matthew 17:24b ” Doth not your master pay tribute?”
The tax collectors knew that Jesus and Peter had no specific profession rather that the missionary assignments. They knew their financial status. However, because they were adults the financial tributes must be paid. What an embarrassment to our Lord Jesus?
Peter ran to Jesus. Not knowing what to do? It was an occasion that needed the power of Jesus to step in and intervene. Who do you run to first in times of financial embarrassment? God or man. Pray to God about your financial situation first. Secondly, see to it what you can do? Thirdly, seek the help of man and be hopeful that God will not allow you to be embarrassed. Many Christians have tarnished the image of Christianity by seeking wrong means to cover up their financial needs not to be embarrassed.
Prayer points for the day
1) Father, thank you very much for the intervention to stop every evil in my life, in Jesus Name.
2) Lord, thank you for the blessing of forgiveness of my sins, in Jesus Name.
3) Father, intervene in every source of my life embarrassment, in Jesus Name.
4) Father, you intervened and provided money out of the mouth of fish, intervene in every financial embarrassment of my life, in Jesus Name.
5) Father, arise and intervene in everything that may want to embarrass me and my family, in Jesus Name.
6) Lord, as you intervened for the City of Jerusalem, intervene for my own Jerusalem, in Jesus Name.
7) Lord, whenever any one wants to embarrass me, please intervene and help me, in Jesus Name. Amen.
