Matthew 2:10
“When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy”
The Shepherds were visited by Angels but the Wise men were led by a star to where Jesus was located. God can reveal His mind to us in different ways. In both cases, they received the message with joy that is exceeding. Seeing the star brought so much joy before they met Jesus. The star did not deceive or misdirect them. The star gave them accurate direction. The extent of joy was unimaginable when they got to where Jesus was housed. They were extremely glad and worshipped Jesus with joy and gifts.
Jesus was the source of their joy and it was the joy that gave them everlasting peace. People that have joy must have peace. The joy of the wise men was so real that they opened their treasure and presented quality gifts to Jesus. True joy cannot be found in the abundance of what we have or what we are. They can only give happiness as long as we possess those things. Joy does not depend on material things that can fade away.
Joy is an inner expression of gladness and does not depend on what we have or what we do not have. It does not depend on what we are or what we are not. It depends on God through His only begotten Son sent to this world for our joy, peace, healing and deliverance from the works of darkness. May your own star bring joy to your family and indeed your people, in Jesus Name. Amen.
