Luke 23:34
"Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted His raiment, and cast lots."
After an offense, what do we do? Revenge, settle the score with the offender, rage or forgive? What did Jesus do when He faced the offense from the world? He forgave all, even in His agony. The offense that Jesus faced was not ordinary. It was a terminal offense that Jesus had to die, still He did not shut the door of forgiveness.
Please note that the Romans soldiers did not kill Jesus, the mocking crowd and the cross did not, but Jesus laid down His life for you and me so that we can have meaningful lives. The blanket forgiveness was pronounced because Jesus knew that some of the people in the crowd were ignorant of what was going on, hence HE forgave them.
Whereas, ignorance is inexcusable for forgiveness in the world’s system as when you offend, you receive punishment. However, with Jesus, there is room and a window of grace for you to receive divine forgiveness. Just repent today, before it may be too late. Repent totally. Make a big U-turn and seek for forgiveness in earnest especially when you follow others to offenses. Jesus is very concerned with the pain of the world’s offenses that He has made provision for our forgiveness. Repent and receive your own forgiveness today and Praise God.
