1 Peter 4:18
"And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves : for charity shall cover the multitude of sins"
The above passage is confirmation to us that when all have failed to work (above all things) in the place of forgiveness, there is a charity that is fervent, powerful enough to conquer and give us victory over whatever the magnitude and multitude of sin could be!
Fervent love does not keep record of sins. It always finds means to forgive and strive to forget. Fervent love does not recall the pains of offense. Fervent love is a kind of balm in Gilead to heal “wounds” of sins and offenses. It moves towards permanent resolution of conflicts. It is meek and spiritual enough to put offense “under the bus” and crush it. Where fervent charity exists, there is no offense that is not forgivable.
Brethren, let us try to love fervently. If man does not reward our efforts, God is watching us how we are applying the divine commandment to love our enemies. We have interpreted love long enough. It is time to walk and act in love. Pray for our adversaries. Show them all the mercies you can and allow God to be the “referee” in all situations. Express and apply love that is above all other things to address what ever hurts in our lives.
Prayer points for the day
1) Father, thank you for another day of love, in your presence, in Jesus Name.
2) Lord, thank you for the balm in Gilead to heal every hurt of sins, in Jesus Name.
3) Father, let us swim in fervent love to deal with others, in Jesus Name.
4) Lord, thank you for giving us a special kind of love that can cover all magnitude and multitudes of sins, in Jesus Name.
5) Lord, teach my heart to operate in fervent love at all times, in Jesus Name.
6) Abba Father, make me a vessel of fervent love, in Jesus Mighty Name.
7) Father, as this year is progressing, let my family and me also progress to your glory, in Jesus Name. Amen.
