2 Corinthians10:18
"For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth"
The Lord’s commendation matters significantly more than man’s commendation so much that when man condemns you but the Lord commends you, it is confirmation that you are on the right path. When man commends you please take heed for man’s approval is fickle in nature. Watch out and be prayerful do not see it as a confirmation of ultimate achievement, instead seek ultimate approval from the Lord for God’s commendation is forever by the covenant in the blood of Jesus.
A classical example is that of the President who was elected in a landslide victory through the massive commendation of the people yet in less than one year after the national election he is now subjected to down ward polls and increasingly harsh criticism. Wherever you may be, as a child of God, do not rely on the commendation of man, because it it not last nor is it an accurate source of approval, same goes for self commendation.
Self or man’s commendation does not amount to the Lord’s commendation and likewise man’s condemnation does not mean that God condemns you. Focus on your God’s given ability by relying on His grace and wisdom to be the man/woman He has created you to be. Be your original self and not a photocopy of anybody else. Allow the leading of God first, pursue your dreams and vision and wait patiently for God. No man, not even yourself has the final say, only God. God is the final approval of lasting success. Praise God.
