“LOVEST THOU ME?” – Part I

John 21:17

"He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because He said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto Him, Lord, thou knowest all things ; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep."

The above passage was the appearance of Jesus Christ to the disciples after resurrection; and it consists one of the final discussion of Jesus with Peter. The situation entails one of the longest discuss between our Lord Jesus and Simeon Peter one of the trusted apostolic confidants. It was an issue of love, not anointing or anything else this time with Simeon Peter.

Anointing without love is questionable. Everything people do without love is subject to question; and Jesus did not spare Peter to confirm the issue of love for His followers, otherwise called “lamb and sheep” especially in His absence. To say you love some one is not sufficient. The love must be demonstrated. It must be evident.

The teaching of Jesus about love was deep. Love loves indeed. The power of love helps others regardless what they pursue in life. Love makes a way in difficult situation. Love is a most powerful “weapon” to turn enemy into friend. Love does not do self aggrandize. Love the unlovable and do not expect a return love. That is how God loves towards us has been since eternity past. LOVEST THOU ME? Jesus is still asking us?

Prayer points for the day

1) Father, thank you for your uncommon love for me and my family, in Jesus Name.

2) Father, let your power of love make a way for me all the way to eternity in Jesus Name.

3) Lord, give me the power of love and grace to love the unlovable, in Jesus Name.

4) Father, as this year progresses let my love for you progress, in Jesus Name.

5) Father, let me and my household continue to experience your divine love, in Jesus Name.

6) Lord, have your ways in my life and let me love as you have loved me, in Jesus Name.

7) Father, keep me and my family far away from evil for ever, in Jesus Name. Amen.

Have a blessed and wonderful day!
