1 Corinthians 9:11
"If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?"
The normal principle of sowing and reaping is “you sow what you reap”. However, from the above passage, it was a concern for Paul the Apostle and he asked if it was a great thing to reap carnal things from spiritual things? Spiritual things last forever, while carnal things do not. The spiritual is born out of the spirit while the carnal is born out of the carnal.
Carnal things are of the world, and spiritual things are of the Lord. Carnal things occur in the world and end here with the world, while spiritual things emanate out of the things that are spiritual and immortal; they shall last till eternity.
Why do we get carnal things from spiritual things these days? Unfortunately because carnality is introduced into the spiritual, even in the church. Carnality waters down the power of spirituality. Carnality destroys efforts of spiritual leaders. It brings lack to both spiritual and physical efforts. Carnality is a killer of hope. If we are consistent with God in our endeavors, we should ensure that carnality stay far away from us. Is it a great thing to reap carnal things from spiritual things? Not at all! May we harvest spiritual from our spiritual seed. For any one that sows carnal things would reap carnality.
