Romans 8:35
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?"
In the Apostolic days, Christians loved God and themselves totally with deep commitment to Christ. They were sold out for the purpose of Christ to the extent that more than half of the Apostles of Christ were persecuted to death. They loved God the way God loved them. They loved the people without any expectation of love or its equivalent in return. They loved as things were!
What happened to the Apostolic days and practices? We have introduced civilization, modernization and rationalization into Christianity. The love process has been reversed. We prefer ourselves to others. We want to satisfy ourselves first, and then proceed to satisfy God and others if there are leftovers. God should be priority in all things. We should not push God to the back burner!
As Christians, we can win tribulations with love. We can overcome distress with undiluted love.
We can be vindicated from persecution with love. With love, we can share our surplus in times of famine with others. With love, we can cover others of every area of nakedness. Love regardless of any peril or pain. These are the prices to pay for unconditional love. Jesus loves us unconditionally and He paid the price. Let no sword scare away the love of Christ from your heart. Let the love be shed abroad. Amen.
